NZ Post YouShop Alternative

I thought I would do things a little bit differently this time.

Sometimes I need to get items sent from the USA to New Zealand for my own personal use. There are tons of freight forwarders in the United States of America, but many offer marginal service.

For example, New Zealand Post YouShop's service has slowly degraded over the years. The economy postage rate they offered used to be a very cost effective way of getting goods from the USA. Unfortunately, that is no more! For a while, they even offered a Sea Freight service, however that would have goods stuck in transit for up to 90 days!

One outfit I have really enjoyed using, and has yet to fail me, is Opas.com.

What I like about OPAS is if you email them, you actually talk to someone within the Warehouse, rather than via a call-centre. You can leave requests when the package is sent to the warehouse, which they oblige (for example: remove all superfluous packaging to get the item as small as possible). They even send li-ion batteries in small devices like phones free of charge - YouShop do not.

So, highly recommend Opas for freight forwarding from the United States to New Zealand, as an alternative to YouShop.
